No parking for fans at MLS Cup

There will be no parking spaces available in or around Exposition Park and Banc of California Stadium for fans attending MLS Cup.

1. No parking for fans at MLS Cup

LAFC will be playing in the MLS Cup for the first time in franchise history but the team sent an email to season ticket holders and fans this week that there would be no parking available for the game due to USC playing at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on the same day. More from The Sporting Tribune:

“There will be NO PARKING SPACES AVAILABLE IN OR AROUND EXPOSITION PARK AND BANC OF CALIFORNIA STADIUM for fans attending MLS Cup,” read the email from the team. “Fans must arrive to the stadium via Metro, LAFC Park & Ride Shuttles from Dodger Stadium or Rideshare apps.”

The MLS Cup between LAFC and Philadelphia Union will start at 1 p.m. at Banc of Calfornia Stadium while USC’s homecoming game against Cal at the Coliseum will start at 7:30 p.m. but USC has priority and Trojan fans will be tailgating in and around Exposition Park all day; forcing LAFC fans to look for parking and transportation alternatives.

2. USC, UCLA playoff hopes still alive

The first College Football Playoff Rankings were released Tuesday and undefeated Tennessee came in at No. 1 followed by unbeaten Ohio State, Georgia and Clemson. USC and UCLA were in the Top 12 and still have an outside shot at being in the College Football Playoff and playing in the national championship game at SoFi Stadium. More from The Sporting Tribune:

USC came in at No. 9, just behind Oregon at No. 8 and UCLA at No. 12. The good news for USC and UCLA fans hoping for a spot in the College Football Playoffs and a chance to play in the College Football National Championship at SoFi Stadium on Jan. 9 is there’s still a pathway. It’s not a clear one and they still need some help but if USC wins out and beats a one-loss, Top 10 UCLA team at the Rose Bowl on Nov. 19, Notre Dame at the Coliseum on Nov. 26 and a one-loss Top 10 Oregon team in the Pac-12 Championship Game at Allegiant Stadium on Dec. 2, they will have a strong case. The same goes for UCLA if they beat USC, Cal and avenge their loss to Oregon in the conference championship game to finish out the season.

3. Are the Dodgers thinking about signing Carlos Correa

MLB insiders believe the Dodgers may be in the market to sign Carlos Correa, infamous for his involvement in the Astros sign-stealing scandal. More from The Sporting Tribune’s Blake Harris:

This offseason needs to cool down just a bit. It’s November 1 and the rumor mill is already running wild. Last week I wrote about a wild rumor that suggested Mookie Betts could move to second base… to make room for Aaron Judge.

Well, strap in, because that was nothing. If you thought that was crazy, you may want to shut your eyes. According to MLB insider Jon Heyman, the Dodgers might actually consider… Carlos Correa.

Oh boy.

4. Time is not on the Raiders side

The Las Vegas Raiders will try to save their season on Sunday in Jacksonville following the team’s worst performance of 2022. The Sporting Tribune’s Steve Carp has the latest from Las Vegas:

For the Las Vegas Raiders, time is their enemy. The 2-5 Raiders have a lot of issues. But are they correctable? The head coach isn’t going anywhere. Owner Mark Davis made that clear Tuesday. The quarterback likely isn’t being benched. The team traded a defensive lineman nine days go but didn’t do anything else at the NFL’s trade deadline Tuesday.

5. Finally off the schneid, Lakers host Pelicans

Fresh off their long-awaited first victory of the season, the Los Angeles Lakers will see if they can make success a theme Wednesday when they host the New Orleans Pelicans. More from The Sporting Tribune:

The Lakers started the season on a five-game losing streak before scoring a 121-110 victory at home Sunday over the Denver Nuggets. They were the last team in the NBA to finally win a game this season. It was also the first victory for new Lakers head coach Darvin Ham, who has somewhat extended himself on a limb with his decision to use Russell Westbrook off the bench. The plan took flight against the Nuggets, with Westbrook scoring 18 points and sealing the victory with a driving basket with 1:36 remaining.

6. Clippers to lean into Paul George vs. young Rockets

With Kawhi Leonard, John Wall and Robert Covington all unavailable and the Los Angeles Clippers mired in an ugly four-game skid, Paul George needed to do something spectacular to save his team. He did just that on Monday to beat the Houston Rockets in Los Angeles. Can he do it again tonight in Houston? More from The Sporting Tribune:

George will need to keep shouldering the load. Leonard (knee) did not make the trip to Houston with the Clippers and Covington is in health and safety protocols. Wall (rest) should be available in the rematch with the Rockets, for whom he played 40 games before sitting out all of last season.
